Round 4 & 5 Thunderhill Raceway Park

Thunderhill Raceway Park is the place to race. A beautiful facility, great weather and awesome racing made this the best event to date. No Invitational cars meant all 11 entries were racing for the same trophy. Eight of the eleven drivers had never seen Thunderhill before. The one and only practice session before qualifying was cut down to two laps because of a crash (Not a Radical) that took some time to clean up. Most everyone went into Saturday qualifying still wondering which way the track went. No Pressure!!!

Saturday night the crew met up for dinner to celebrate Jolene's Birthday. Mexican food was on the menu and the drinks were flowing. Jolene had a great time even after the 5th rendition of Happy Birthday to her. Thanks again to everyone.

Sunday's schedule mirrored Saturday but this time the drivers were on a level playing field. Everone's seen the track except they changed to bypass to go over the chicane. Tim Day really turned it on Sunday to sit on the pole. Bob never got a good lap in as he experienced some overheating problems. Dave Tweedlie, now feeling a little better put in a great lap for 4th.

As the Radicals staged for the race, a side bet was going on with the Radical Ventures crew. We suddenly realized there were 4 or 5 cars with the potential to win. Matt got the jump on the start and took the lead. Coming into turn 3 on the first lap, Dave T. spun causing quite the incident between several cars. Bob and Cyrus got the worst of it, and put them out of the race. Craig and Dave continued on but with damage. That left it up to Tim, Cody & Matt who had an incredible battle.

It was great fun to watch and cheer everyone on. Cody looked as if he could pass Tim until an impressive 100+ mph spin at the exit of turn 1 ended his chances. Cody did recover to finish second. Tim was strong all weekend and did a great job bringing it home for a win. Congratulations Tim!!!

Reno – Fernley on May 12, 13 is just around the corner. It's going to be our biggest event yet, so if you haven't confirmed, we may not have a spot for Arrive & Drive's. First come, first served! For those attending remember to consider team mates for the enduro on Sunday.

Thank you again to everyone for being part of such a fun and exciting series.
